World Drowning Prevention Day 2025

World Drowning Prevention Day 2025

Organisations across the globe are being urged to get involved with this year’s World Drowning Prevention Day on July 25. To inspire and support the planning of activities and events to mark the Day, WHO has published a new guide which includes ideas about the types of activities and events that can be developed  at a national and local level, as well as providing key facts about drowning and drowning prevention. There are around 300,000 drowning deaths worldwide each year. It is a leading cause of death for children and young people aged 1-24 years in every region of the world. Children aged under five account for nearly a quarter of all drowning deaths.
