Study confirms the urgency of mandatory collection of injury data

A recent study into the feasibility of an EU-wide injury and accident data collection system concludes that the recommended option should be either building on an existing injury database or developing a new database but also taking advantage of the existing EU-IDB. Data on injuries caused by unsafe products is currently collected in a fragmented and inconsistent manner across EU Member States

As the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is relevant throughout the EU, the report recommends the EC introduce mandatory arrangements for the collection of injury data for statistical purposes aimed at safeguarding and improving the safety of EU citizens.
