The National Institute for Public Health Surveillance (InVS), a governmental institution reporting to the Ministry of Health, is responsible for monitoring the health status of the entire French population and alerting public authorities of threats to public health
To accomplish this, InVS collects and analyzes epidemiologic data, a task requiring that it mobilizes, leads, and coordinates a public health network that includes healthcare professionals, research units, public and private healthcare facilities, health insurance funds, and patient and user associations.
InVS then provides these health surveillance data to the public authorities in the form of recommendations that help to direct and then assess health policies. This information also goes to healthcare professionals, who must implement these policies, and to the general population. This health surveillance is the expression
of democracy in health, the sharing of knowledge about hazards and risks, to promote health.

The Center for Research and Prevention of Injuries among the Young, was established by the Ministry of Health in 1991. The decision to create a research and action oriented Center was dictated by the large and rising number of young people who are injured or killed each year in Greece. The Center aims to develop research activities, methods for a better documentation and reporting of the consequences of injuries, as well as targeted childhood injury prevention programs. The mission of CEREPRI is the reduction of the number of young people involved in accidents in Greece.

The Collaboration for Accident Prevention and Injury Control (CAPIC) has been funded by the Welsh Assembly Government to co-ordinate injury prevention activities in Wales and to develop a Wales Injury Prevention Network.
CAPIC was initiated in 1996 to bring together representatives from a wide variety of organisations interested in injury prevention including public health bodies, local authorities, clinicians, emergency services, academics, and voluntary and charitable bodies. CAPIC acts as an umbrella body which has representation from a variety of groups with more specific mandates, e.g. Child Safe Wales, RoSPA, but does not replicate their activities.
