AdRisk – Community action on adolescents and injury risk
The AdRisk project (Community Action on Adolescents and Injury Risk) represents an integrated approach to reduce the injury risk and risk taking behaviour among adolescents aged 15-24 years. The high injury-related mortality and morbidity rate among adolescents can be partly explained by their risk-taking behaviour and lifestyles. AdRisk wants to supplement existing injury prevention and/or safety promotion programmes. The project aims to develop and to disseminate a European strategy with national policy recommendations, a European situation analysis Report, a good practice manual and a “toolbox for activities on youth injury prevention” in order to contribute to reducing the high toll of injuries among adolescents in EU Member States, EEA- countries and candidate countries.
Objectives of AdRisk partnership for “initiating national action”
AdRisk supports and facilitates selected national non-governmental organisations, as well as youth related organizations within its national partnership programme to initiate and develop national programmes for action on injury prevention among adolescents and integrate youth into existing programmes
The National Partner shall engage concerted actions at national level and develop goals and strategies for initiating national action on youth – injury prevention with a focus on risk taking behaviour. National activities shall be initiated in cooperation with key stakeholders.

Partner’s profile
An AdRisk partner for such an agreement is a national organisation/agency that undertakes the coordination for initiating and developing of youth related injury prevention strategies at their country level development. National partners shall:
represent a national organisation or agency with proven experience and active in youth public health issues.
serve as the national representative for youth related injury prevention action with the endorsement of the responsible national ministry for health.
Tasks and deliverables
The National Partner shall
assess the situation in the national context, review existing programs and activities, national policies and plans related to youth / health and injury prevention, identify major stakeholders
consult with major national stakeholders to undertake a process for developing a framework of action on youth and injury prevention
propose goals that are important to be introduced in existing or upcoming plans and policy documents and justify
propose priority areas of interventions
recommend next steps and actions at national level
deliver two comprehensive reports (interim and final report) titled “Initiating national action on youth/risk behaviour and injury prevention”
The Project coordinator shall provide guidelines for the development of initiating national action related to youth and injury prevention and shall coordinate with national partners
to support the development and implementation of youth injury related strategies
to identify and encourage the use of good practice in European and national strategies for youth injury prevention
to develop and support a networking structure, that enables (interested, dedicated or committed) stakeholders in working collectively on youth related injury prevention (via Platform www.adrisk.eu.com)
to provide professional and scientific material and documentation related to youth injury prevention ( European Situation Analyses )
Terms of financial contribution from EU project
The Adrisk project as part of the EU public health programme can provide a contribution to national partners to undertake the tasks and deliverables to be achieved in this project. A total of 15.000 Euro per partner is available of which the Adrisk project will provide 60% and of which the partner will provide 40%. The partner contribution of 40% can be contributed in the form of staff time. Funds will be dispended in two payments.

Interested institutions can apply for national partnership by sending a letter of application describing their motivation and relevant experience in the field of youth and injury prevention in the national context as well as EU related activities.
