Risk assessment for non-food consumer products is an increasingly important tool for risk managers in determining whether regulatory interventions or other measures are required to ensure the safety of products and services to consumers.
At the ECOSA / EuroSafe Risk Assessment Conference held in Edinburgh, 21/22 April 2005, it was recognised that there is a need for more consistent and objective risk assessment. It is therefore important to develop a sound scientific basis for this field. At the close of this conference ECOSA / EUROSAFE committed itself to using this conference as a platform for the development of further activities that must encourage more harmonised approaches towards risk assessment and to increase transparency in assessment procedures and consequent decision making processes. On the basis of this, this working group is established by ECOSA / EuroSafe.
