Objectives  print friendly

The main objective of the PROSAFE project is to ensure a core set of best practice techniques and cross-sharing of information and expertise in market surveillance within EEA countries.

Specific objectives are:
  • To establish and document what are the most common best practices in market surveillance systems, taking into consideration the already existing vast experience and expertise found in Member States;
  • To develop guidelines to promote a common understanding of monitoring and investigative procedures;
  • To develop effective cross sharing of information and expertise between market surveillance organizations within various countries;
  • To develop lasting and effective market surveillance procedures based on best practice techniques identified through practical market surveillance exercises and through the actual guide that is to be developed, thus facilitating further collaboration between market surveillance authorities within the EEA.

The main objective of the Working Group on Risk Assessment is to provide a knowledge base for others who aim at producing practical methods of risk assessment.

Specific objectives are:
  • The WG will make an inventory of the principles underlying risk assessment, in particular for product design and post market monitoring.
  • On the basis of this inventory, guidelines will be developed for producers, enforcers and consumer organisations on how to apply these principles in practice and what type of information can be used in each step. This may include examples of tools such as risk matrices.
  • The deliverable should be a guidance document containing the main definitions and framework for risk assessment of non-food consumer products, and a proposal for dedicated research projects aimed at filling the gaps in knowledge.
