Special EuroBarometer: Attitudes towards alcohol

One of today’s major life-style related health determinants is alcohol. Europe is the continent where per capita alcohol consumption is the highest in the world. In established market economies such as the EU Member States the burden of disease and injury attributable to alcohol is estimated to be situated between 8 and 10%. Read more.

EC Communication and Council Recommendation for Injuries (2006)

The major directions for the injury related actions under the Public Health Programme are now being provided by the Communication on 'Actions for a Safer Europe' that the Commission has adopted in May 2006. Following this a Communication in the form of a draft Council Recommendation has been sent to the College of Commissioners for endorsement and released to Member States’ governments. Read more.

Regional Committee Resolution on Children's Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe (2004)
At the Fourth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health (Budapest, June 25-27, 2004) which brought together health ministers and environment ministers, intergovernmental organisations and civil society organisations, the Conference Declaration was signed and endorsed by 52 Member States in Europe. Priority goal 2 is to reduce injuries.

World Health Assembly and United Nations Resolution on violence and health (2003)
