Workers deserve a safe and healthy working environment.
Injury is the leading cause of death and disability in Europe, where a worker happens to be a victim of an accident in the working environment every five seconds. But what is worst, every two hours, a worker dies at his/her working place. It goes without saying that the economic an social burden of the accidents and injuries at the working place is enormous.
It is every employer’s and every employee’s responsibility to create a safe and healthy working environment. And it is a major concern for caregivers, business and governments. A huge part of these incidents could be avoided through the mainstreaming of prevention and safety at work promotion activities, a direct effect of such activities being essential to the improvement of the European economic competitiveness as a whole.
