Child Safety Country Report Cards and Profiles 2009
Available for 24 European countries, these Report Cards score each country on the level of adoption, implementation and enforcement of over 100 evidence-based child injury prevention strategies and policies in the areas of road traffic accidents, drowning, falls, burns, poisonings, choking and strangulation and leadership, infrastructure and capacity to support child safety activities.
The country Profiles are a companion piece which provide child injury facts and rates for each country, plus detail further information on socio-demographic determinants and the availability of affordable child safety equipment. (more)

This project summary for the Child Safety Action Plan initiative (CSAP) describes the process undertaken for the development of national child safety action plans in Europe. It highlights how the different phases of the project - assessment, strategic planning and action planning – fit together to support countries in their planning, and demonstrates the importance of a multi-sectoral and cross-cutting approach to injury prevention. Child Safety Good Practice Guide: good investments in unintentional child injury prevention and safety promotion
The purpose of this guide is to enable Member States to examine strategy options for unintentional child injury prevention that are evidence-based and offer guidance on how such strategies can be transferred into action and policy. The guide is divided into four sections and includes at-a-glance tables of evidence-based strategies, as well as European case studies to help injury stakeholders working in Member States to promote good practice in planning and implementing strategies to address child injury. Developed in collaboration with professional water recreation associations and injury prevention experts across Europe, these guidelines provide informative facts on injuries and hazards, and outline specific safety recommendations for 13 common water settings and sports in order to encourage safe water related activities for children ages 0- 18 years of age. The Stockholm Manifesto: creating a safe environment for children in Europe
On September 21, 2004, 80 delegates from 18 countries in Europe participated in a workshop focused on safer environments for children in Europe. The culmination of this event was the drafting and discussion of the Stockholm Manifesto, a declaration of a call to action to reduce the leading cause of death for children in Europe - injury. | Parents Perceptions of Child Safety: A 14 Country Study
This report presents the findings of a quantitative survey of the perceptions of parents of young children regarding child safety from across Europe. The results indicate that while parents do take actions to keep their children safe, they are often unaware of or have misperceptions about the greatest hazards. The findings include surprising results that illuminate issues with regard to the effect of social demographics and inequalities on injury in Europe. (more)
