In the framework of the EU co-funded project Apollo, EuroSafe partners carried out a subproject called: “Initiatives for interventions of the public health sector to prevent accidents among vulnerable road users (VRU)”. This project aimed to clarify the potential role of the public health sector may play in enhanced policies for making our roads safer for vulnerable road users.
The project aimed:
To estimate the total number of injuries to vulnerable road users and falls in pedestrians in the European Union
To develop indicators for this groups
To identify priorities for preventive actions
To collect information on good practices on all political levels
The project finally produced also a resource book, which serves as a reference for practitioners as to how to plan and implement successful interventions for promoting safety of VRU at national and local level.
