In spite of decreases over the last 20 years, injury remains the leading cause of child and adolescent death and disability in Israel.
Injury prevention work to address child and adolescent injury in Israel is led by the Ministry of Health and several NGO's. Israel is represented on the European Child Safety Alliance Steering Committee by SAFE KIDS Israel/Beterem and Hebrew University Hadassah.
The current priority areas for child and adolescent injury prevention and safety promotion in Israel include building partnerships and sustainable foundations with NGOs and governmental bodies in Israel , including government ministers, Knesset members and senior officials involved in the decision-making and legislative processes in order to promote child safety. Priority areas are vulnerable road users and home safety. |
