As in other EU Member States injury remains a leading cause of child and adolescent death and disability in Cyprus.
Injury prevention work to address child and adolescent injury is led by the Ministry of Health, except for road safety where the Ministry of Communications has the lead. The Ministry of Health represents Cyprus on the European Child Safety Alliance Steering Group.
The current priority areas for child and adolescent injury prevention and safety promotion in Cyprus include implementing the National Strategic Plan for Childhood Injuries Prevention (2006-2010) and the Strategic Plan for Road Safety (2005-2010) coordinated, respectively, by the two lead Ministries. |
