Red Cross Societies from 24 European countries have launched a new Europe-wide campaign on 18 April 2005 to promote first aid skills enabling people to take simple measures if they are involved in an accident. This campaign will travel across Europe adopting to the local audience. During the journey, the four vehicles of the campaign will also gather individual pledges from road users to improve their behaviour. For example, drivers may commit to observing speed limits at all times whereas children may pledge always to use crossings on their way to school. The individual pledges will be sent to the Commission when the campaign arrives in Brussels on 14 September 2005. A survey of children’s road safety behaviour will also be carried out during the campaign and published on 14 December 2005.
