Dr. Rupert Kisser, Executive member of ECOSA
Mr. Kisser was born in Vienna (1951), studied Law, Psychology and Educational Theory at the University of Vienna (1969-1975). He was awarded his Ph.D. at the University of Vienna in 1986. From 1979 till 1987 he worked as a psychologist and research scientist at the Institute for Traffic Psychology of the Austrian Road Safety Board. From 1987 to 2005 Dr. Kisser was Director of Institute Sicher Leben. At the end of 2005 Sicher Leben was incorporated into the Austrian Road Safety Board where Dr. Kisser is now Head of the Dept. of Home, Leisure & Sports.

Dr. Wim Rogmans, General Secretary of ECOSA
Dr. Rogmans is the Director of the Consumer Safety Institute in the Netherlands which is primarily concerned with reducing injuries due to domestic accidents and sports and leisure. Dr. Rogmans academic background is in social sciences (Masters degree in Psychology). He started his career in the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and since 1980 has worked in the field of injury prevention and consumer safety starting with injuries among children through epidemiological studies and evaluation of interventions. This formed the basis of a PhD in 1986. He also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration.
He is involved in international collaboration through the World Health Organization (representing the Consumer Safety Institute as WHO Collaborating Institute for Injury Prevention) and the European Community Commission.
Dr. Rogmans is also Editor-in-Chief of the Injury Control and Safety Promotion Journal.

Mr. Ron Gainsford, Executive member of ECOSA
Mr. Gainsford was appointed Chief Executive of the Trading Standards Institute in England in February 2002. He grasped the opportunity to help lead trading standards and the Institute into further successful times ahead after spending recent years with LACORS as its Assistant Director leading on trading standards affairs. His professional background is in trading standards and local government with broad experience in working in a variety of local authorities and in national and international regulatory consumer affairs. He is well versed in European collaboration and has represented UK interests on several European enforcement groups involving consumer protection counterparts from member states and EU institutions. He has been an adviser to a number of overseas governments on public protection and market surveillance issues. Ron was made a Fellow of the Institute in 1999 for his services to trading standards.

Dr. Brigitte Buhmann, Executive member of ECOSA
After graduating in economics and social sciences at the University of Basle, Switzerland, Brigitte Buhmann initially worked at the Institute for Social Sciences in Basle. This was then followed by 2 years as technical director in an international research institute, in Luxembourg (poverty-related and socio-economic studies). Between 1988 and 2003, she occupied several positions at Statistics Switzerland, where she was also responsible for labour market and social statistics, for public relations and strategic issues. Since January 2004, Brigitte Buhmann has been managing the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention bfu with a staff of around 100 employees. The bfu is a private foundation with a legal mandate and is active in the field of road safety, sports, buildings, household and products.

Dr. Claudio Detogni, Executive member of ECOSA
After graduating as a medical doctor and specialising in emergency surgery and first aid, Claudio Detogni gained a WHO Master in Public Health. He has worked in 8 different countries and has a vast range of international experience. Together, this paved the way to his current position of Director of the Office for International Relations and European Porijects at ULSS 20 Verona Regione Vento.
