The purpose of this study was to formulate proposals for a prevention policy with regard to accidents with circular saws, where the prevention i s aimed at both the product and at the behaviour of the user of circular saw s. First an explanation is given of the different types of circular saws (han d circular saws and (semi-)stationary circular saws). Epidemiological data a re presented on accidents with circular saws, based on data from various acci dent surveillance systems, on the literature, and on the results of an inquiry among victims of such accidents. The current prevention policy is tested with th e results of the inquiry and recommendations are made for improvement.
